Why do I hear my wife/husband/partner better than other people?

Sometimes family members talk louder than they normally would to try and help people to hear better. Otherwise, they may have to repeat what they’ve said, which can be tiring and frustrating. We also become more familiar with the people we talk to more regularly, learning how they talk, and what they’re likely to say.
