How do I know if I have a memory problem?

As we get older, it is ok to forget things occasionally, such as paying a bill, what day it is, where you parked the car or losing things from time to time. How does hearing loss cause a problem with memory?

Hearing loss makes the brain work harder to hear, forcing it to strain to hear and fill in the missing gaps. Because it has to work harder, it can’t do other thinking and memory tasks. Hearing loss may also make the brain shrink more quickly. People with hearing loss may go out less or avoid talking with others, and the brain is stimulated less. Find out more.

Do hearing aids help with memory loss?

Hearing aids help the brain work better and improve working memory by reducing the brain’s workload. Wearing hearing aids frees up more brain power to think, hear, and remember more easily what is being said. Studies show that people who wear hearing aids show improvements in memory.
